Ivan Urlaub, executive director of the N.C. Sustainable Energy Association, will soon support solar power a bit more than he has in the past — on his roof.
It might seem a little late in the game for someone who has been at the top of the pro-solar-and-renewables organization since 2005.
But a good-natured Urlaub points out that, working at a nonprofit, it has taken him some time to pay off his debts and get finances in order for the $11,000 investment in a rooftop project.
“We moved from Durham to a new house in Carrboro this year, and the Solarize Carrboro initiative was underway, so I was able to get their volume discount,” he says. “I finally had an opportunity to do what I long wanted to do.”
