Hey RALToday friends! We’re a local solar company based out of Raleigh, NC and we’re here to share some exciting new things happening with solar in our area. Learn more below or reach out if you’re curious about what solar would look like for your energy goals.
Generating your own solar energy means buying less from the utility. Plus, because you’re creating your own power, you’ll be protected from rising utility rates. Most homeowners see savings of 50-80% on their electric bill.
If you add batteries to your solar system, you’ll get the extra benefit of energy security when the power goes out. Learn More →
Both solar and battery systems are eligible for the 30% Federal Tax Credit for solar.
A new rebate, called PowerPair, has also just been approved. North Carolina Duke Energy customers that install a new solar plus battery system on their home are eligible for a rebate of up to $9,000 when installed together.
So with these incentives combined, homes could save more than 50% on their total system cost!

The cost of a solar panel system varies depending on the location of your home, how much roof space you have, your energy use, and more. Our average 7.6kW solar system costs roughly $26,000 before incentives. This is obviously a baseline and your solar designer will provide you with a concrete number tailored to your home and energy goals.
Whether or not solar is worth it, really depends on your energy goals paired with whether or not your home is a good fit for solar. Factors like shading or a north-facing roof can reduce solar’s value.
However, solar-friendly utility policies in North Carolina, such as net metering help make solar a beneficial investment for many businesses and homeowners across the state. Incentives like the 30% Federal Investment Tax Credit and Duke Energy’s PowerPair rebate make the climate for solar in North Carolina even better!
Let us know if you’d like to explore whether solar would be beneficial for your home.
Yes! But with the caveat that it doesn’t work for everyone. Whether or not solar is a good fit for your home depends on several factors such as shading, your home’s location, how much space you have on your roof, and of course your energy goals and budget.

How many Powerwalls your home will need all depends on your energy goals and what you need to keep powered during an outage.
In general, a single Powerwall will keep the essentials like lights and your fridge running. If you’re looking to power things like your stove, air conditioner, or washer and dryer, you’ll be looking at 2+ Powerwalls.

Technically you can support a Tesla Powerwall with a single solar panel, however, it would take a very long time for your battery to recharge. A 7.6 kW system, or about 23 panels, can recharge a Powerwall in 2 hours under perfect conditions. The “best” system size for a Powerwall is one that is tailored to fit your home’s energy demands and your battery backup goals.
