RALEIGH, NC – Southern Energy Management (SEM), a local provider of solar energy and building performance solutions, is excited to announce the recent installation of a Haven™ solar shelter from Spotlight Solar at Gizmo Brew Works in Raleigh, NC.
On a bright and sunny Wednesday, Southern Energy and Spotlight Solar teams installed the shelter outside of the Gizmo Tap Room, next to the stage. Perfect timing for Wednesday night trivia!

What is Haven?
The Haven solar shelter is an innovative solution that integrates solar panels into a table, providing shade and charging stations for phones, laptops, and other devices. With 16 charge points powered by 1.6kW of solar capacity and built-in battery storage, Haven is designed to offer a covered space to take a break from the indoors while powering devices with clean, abundant energy from the sun.
How does it work? Haven captures solar energy during the day and stores it in a set of batteries, which can be used to charge devices from the built-in outlets or power the shelter’s lights later in the evening. Once fully charged, the battery backup is designed to last three days in the event of cloudy weather.
The installation of the Haven solar shelter at Gizmo Brew Works is part of SEM’s ongoing efforts to provide solar education and sustainable solutions to local businesses and communities.
As neighbors on Triangle Drive in Raleigh, Gizmo Brew Works and Southern Energy Management are excited for another partnership after teaming up in 2022 to create Rays of Hope. Proceeds from the collaboration brew were donated to Hope Renovations – a local organization empowering women and gender minorities in construction through a comprehensive trades training program.
