State’s Leading Solar Power & Energy Efficiency Company Hires David Odell for Business Development
MORRISVILLE – Southern Energy Management (SEM), a leading provider of residential and commercial solar power and energy efficiency services in the Carolinas, announced today the addition of David Odell to its business development team.
Odell will serve in a leadership role driving the development and expansion of SEM’s services throughout the Carolinas with a particular focus on strengthening the company’s operations in South Carolina, where he has been a leading voice in the solar industry for years.
“We’re excited to have David join our team to help us better serve clients across the Carolinas,” said Maria Kingery, co-owner and director of human resources at SEM. “In addition to the experience David brings from his previous work in the solar industry, his long career in the technology field will add to our internal capabilities as we continue to grow across the Southeast.”
Odell developed a strong interest in solar technology after working for two decades as a software developer, analyst and consultant. Most recently, Odell worked as president of a solar company in South Carolina, where he led several high-profile solar projects with clients such as Furman University in Greenville, S.C., and the Duke Energy Solar Learning Center, which serves as home to Cliff’s Cottage, one of Southern Living magazine’s showcase homes.
Odell has also helped advance legislation to make solar more accessible. In recent years, he intervened on South Carolina’s net metering docket, lobbied for solar at the state capitol, and served on a technical workgroup for Governor Sanford’s Climate, Energy, and Commerce Advisory Committee. Odell is an active member of the South Carolina Solar Council and moderates its online Yahoo User Group.
