B Corps Powered By The Sun

We are thrilled to share that we’ve been featured in the B Corporation article B Corps Use Solar Power, Other Energy Efficiencies as They Pursue Net Zero . This piece highlights our commitment to enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability, supporting our mission to transform how people make and use energy.

Our journey started back in 2018 when we bought our 15,393-square-foot facility, a gem from the 1980s. Realizing the room for improvement, we dove into a thorough assessment of our energy use. This first step set the stage for a string of smart upgrades to enhance our building’s energy efficiency.

We made key upgrades like high-efficiency heat pumps, programmable thermostats, and solar tubes for better natural lighting. Plus, we spruced up the warehouse lighting, cutting down on energy use. The star of the show was a 52.2 kW solar system. Since its installation in 2020, our solar system has generated an impressive 206 MWh of solar energy, offsetting an average of 88% of our facility’s energy use. This also helped us attain LEED Silver certification in 2023.

Looking ahead, we are dedicated to expanding our solar system to achieve 100% energy offset by the end of the year. This ambitious goal reflects our ongoing pursuit of excellence in energy management and sustainability.
