Co-Ownership Team with Co-Founders, Bob and Maria Kingery
In 2024, seven of Southern Energy Management’s most experienced leadership team members purchased the company from Bob and Maria Kingery. Each of our co-owners bring over a decade of experience leading teams at Southern Energy Management. This transition was a carefully planned evolution, and is a bold next step in sustaining the next chapter of our sustainable energy company.
We believe companies should make more than just money; they should make a difference. That’s why we joined companies like Patagonia and Seventh Generation in redefining success in business by competing not to be the best IN the world, but to be the best FOR the world. As a Certified B Corp, we commit to meeting the highest standard of social and environmental impact.
We are problem solvers who always stand FOR something, not against anything.
We are grateful that we GET to do this important work.
We focus less on our individual accomplishments, and more on the impact of our team.
We seek mastery in everything we do and seek to be the best we can be.
While we are always looking to the future, we make a point to appreciate today.
We measure success by our impact on people and the planet. In 2024, our solar installs and building performance services positively impacted 39,711 families, and had an equivalent environmental impact of 24,762 cars removed from the road, or 3 million tree seedlings planted, or 8.05 million trash bags of waste recycled instead of landfilled.
As a B Corp, we love to “B the Change.” We strive to be a better company for the environment, for our workers, and for our local community. That’s why SEM gives each team member paid time off to volunteer — equivalent to 7 weeks of volunteer time each year. Check out some of our favorite volunteer memories!
As a proud member of the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association (NCSEA), we’ve signed a pledge to protect solar consumer rights by conducting our business with honesty and integrity.
