Winners are selected through an employee survey process. Nominated companies must achieve a participation threshold, which varies depending on the company’s size.
As a local business and Certified B Corp that values using business as a force for good, this award is another recognition that we’re leading with people and purpose at heart. It signifies that we are fulfilling our team’s expectations and fostering an environment where team members are enthusiastic about contributing to our mission of leading the change for people and the planet.

According to our survey results, the word that our team used most to describe Southern Energy Management is “supportive”. At Southern Energy, we place a significant amount of energy, resources, and care into creating a team culture of love, support, and growth. We are in awe to see this as the most common word our team collectively used to describe our work environment.

As a team, we prioritize open communication, continuous feedback, and opportunities for professional growth. Our leadership works to ensure that every team member feels valued and heard by implementing tools and processes that provide opportunities for continuous feedback no matter the role. We believe this creates a strong sense of belonging and community within our whole and individual teams.
We invest heavily in the growth and development of our team members, with our internal training program named “SEM YOUniversity”. Through regular training sessions, workshops, and opportunities for career advancement, our team is encouraged to continuously improve their personal and professional skills to advance in their careers. Last year a total of 51 courses were offered, totaling 846 hours of team training and 150 hours of JEDI conversations participated in!
