Since 1850, Pittsboro Presbyterian Church has been a cornerstone of downtown Pittsboro, NC. In 2017, the historic building received a landmark upgrade with the installation of a 12.47 kW solar system which offsets around 70% of the church’s energy consumption. The decision to go solar stems from the congregation’s belief in the importance of environmental stewardship of God’s creation and their commitment to making creation care and justice a central tenet of the service-oriented church. Southern Energy Management is proud to have been a part of this project as the solar designer and installer, partnering with Pittsboro Presbyterian Church to offset the carbon equivalency of 14.1 acres of US forests each year.
