We’re excited to see Chapel Hill’s Array neighborhood featured on The American Dream TV this past May, with our very own Jamie Hager, Co-owner and Green Building Specialist, representing Southern Energy Management and sharing a look inside one of North Carolina’s first fully Net Zero Energy neighborhood.
Brought to life through a collaborative team effort led by visionary Jodi Bakst, Array showcases what’s possible when sustainable design is prioritized from the start. Every home in the community is designed to produce as much energy as it consumes — a true benchmark for sustainable living.
Inside the Design: Energy Efficiency from the Ground Up
Our team at Southern Energy Management supported the project as certified Home Energy Raters and solar designers, helping shape energy-efficient designs, optimize building performance, and integrate solar systems to meet net zero energy standards. With our very own Jamie Hager featured in the segment, we get a look at some of the energy-efficient strategies behind the community’s success.
By combining detailed energy modeling, building science consulting, and solar expertise, our work helped ensure that each home in the Array community meets Array’s net zero energy goals, setting a new standard for residential developments in our state.

A Model for the Future of Sustainable Housing
The Array community isn’t just another development, it’s a glimpse into the future of homebuilding. We’re proud to be part of this forward-thinking project and excited to see more communities follow in its Net Zero footsteps!
