Green Home Certification comes to local Home Builder Association

As a founding member of the DOC Green Building Initiative and approved 3rd Party verifier for the program, Southern Energy Management has the tools you need to successfully achieve GBI certification for your home.

The Green Building Initiative™ is a program created by the National Association of Home Builders, which has been working with local home builder associations across the country to develop locally-relevant green building programs. These programs help builders develop homes that reduce your energy bills, provide a healthier living environment for your family all while being considerate of the environment.

In North Carolina, the Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties assembled a Green Building Initiative (DOCGBI) council to develop a set of local green home guidelines, based on the NAHB model. Builders can use the checklist and system from this program to show a home's relative green value.

If you have questions or would like more information about the DOCGBI's Green Building Council, visit the DOCGBI website at www.hbadoc.com or contact GBI Program Administrator Leigh Scott at leigh@hbadoc.com or 919-493-8899.
