The LEEDŽ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Homes program is a voluntary, nationwide initiative promoting the transformation of the mainstream home building industry towards more sustainable practices.  LEEDŽ certification is recognized internationally as a mark of high quality, prestige, and truly green building practices.

Developed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) with input from local and national stakeholder groups, the new rating system builds on the incredible success of the existing LEEDŽ rating systems for commercial buildings, and addresses the unique needs of the home building market.

LEEDŽ for Homes was created by the USGBC to provide a national standard for green certification and rating of residential buildings.  Currently in its pilot phase,LEEDŽ for Homes will soon be available to builders as another option in green home certification programs.
