For customers interested in earning a Green Building Program Certificate for their home
Already building to Energy Star and ready to go green? There are several programs available to builders in NC interested in building a verified green home. With experience as an approved 3rd party verifier for all green building programs available in NC, SEM is your connection to understanding your options and successfully, efficiently choosing the strategies and program that works for you. SEM will meet with you prior to construction, review your options, establish an action plan, and create a prioritized list of documentation needed to gain a certificate for your home.
Services include:
• Overview of green building programs available in your area.
• Assistance choosing items appropriate for your project (value engineering) from the green building program’s checklist.
• Creation of schedule for 3rd party inspection(s) of items as applicable to the program, coordinated with Energy Star and your construction schedule.
• List of item documentation needed prioritized by phases of construction, including:
1. Items builder is responsible for documenting
2. Items SEM is responsible for documenting
• Summary of builder responsibilities including action items at completion of project, and next steps to completing the certification process pertaining to the program chosen.
For customers interested in green building but not interested in a green building program certificate

Fees Green Building Program verification service is available to our Energy Star Builder Partners for $250. Additional services are available for a consultative fee of $85 per hour plus travel time.
